I grow some of those, and everything I grow is produced organically, so I'm quite happy to eat straight from the garden without washing (the veggies I mean, not me!) Organic farming food production has been around probably since the dawn of agriculture, so our bodies are well adapted to healthily produced food; only time (and lots of it) will tell what the long term effects on our species might be from ingesting pesticides and insecticides. Until we know better the consequences, why take the chance, grow organic if you can and shop organic if you can't grow it.
Bon appetit

Good article. Unfortunately, buying organic usually means spending at least twice the amount as buying non-organic. Many families just cannot afford it.
Hi Annie's Granny, hope you and Annie are well.
Yes, the same here in the UK, organic does cost more, though fortunately nowhere near the twice the price you have to endure. I suppose the best option then is for people to be aware of the worst affected crops and either avoid them or just buy organic ion those instances (if they can't be lucky like us and grow our own).
I was fortunate to grow up in the environment where I could wake up in the morning, and eat plums, apples, strawberries straight from the garden. I miss those days, and sometimes I just grab an apple and clean using my sleeve and eat it, lol, just to bring those nice memories back. May be when I retire I will buy myself piece a land to do vegetable farming. I have some on my backyard now, but very little, it takes me to water them in less than five minutes. Thanks for the information Heskie again - I been aware of this for a long time now. Hope all is well otherwise. Anna :)
Well Anna, that's just what we have done, we were lucky enough to find a cottage in the west of Dorset with enough land to enjoy a flower garden and a veggie garden, which is where we devote a lot of our retirement time (with the help of friends when we take off in our campervan).
It could be a problem though couldn't it, with some stuff never reaching the kitchen, yesterday evening I was pinching mange tout peas while I was on the veggie patch.
